The LH Express is a soulful, fun-filled, and electrifying musical ride, featuring the husband-and-wife team of Lucas Haneman on electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, percussion, and lead and backup vocals; and Megan Laurence, a lead and backup vocalist who is a force of nature whenever she is present. The LH Express is rounded out by bassist Martin Newman and drummer Valera Negovora, giving them their one-of-a-kind sound drenched in blues, funk, and a little something they can call their own. Born in a Cyclone was recorded at FM Studio in Ottawa, Ontario, and produced by Haneman and Laurence. All music and lyrics are written by the band.

On the opening track, “The Things You Do,” with its heavy bass beat from Newman, Megan sings, “oh, I’ve been gone for so long, but I’m back…oh, the things you do, and here my intentions are clear…won’t you smile…’cause I’m ready for love…oh, the things you do.”

“The River” features a funky beat and some great guitar from Haneman, as Megan chimes, “would you take the river, if the river stays clean.”

On “I Love You,” with its New Orleans second-line beat, Megan declares, “everybody wants you to make a move…I love you, everything, everything you do…I love you.”

On “All We Need,” with Haneman on acoustic guitar, Megan chants, “It’s time to dream…don’t you know I was standing at the station…then can you see the forest thru the trees…that’s all we need.”

On the rocker “What About Me,” Megan bursts, “hey baby, you drive me crazy, your always screamin’…what about me, what about us, why do you make such a fuss, what about me.”

“Old Soul” features Megan as she cries out, “so long, I’ll call…I cry, cry, I know if you try, try, try…I never wanted you to stay away…time is everything, everything.”

On the funky “Love Thang,” Megan moans, “everybody wants to, everybody needs to do that love thang, like a bird up in the tree, my babe gives me what I need…,” with the great rhythm section of bassist Newman and drummer Negovora, and a nice guitar solo from Haneman.

“She” features Megan as she wails, “she needs his love…love, love, it’s like the stars above, she’s got some love in her eyes, I see love, love, still step by step we walk in the dark, in her eyes, I see love in her eyes.”

On “With You,” another rocker, Megan belts, “you say that your leaving, I don’t want you to go…to go, to go…when you start knockin’ ’round my heart strings go, go, go…I’ll always be in love with you,” with another fabulous guitar solo from Haneman.

On the closer, “6 Feet Under,” Megan groans, “I was born in a cyclone, in the eye of the storm…when I get a little older the blues got to me…6 feet under, when your 6 feet under…can you hear me knockin’, when your six feet under, your six feet under…meet your maker, when your six feet under.”

Born in a Cyclone is LH Express’s fifth studio album to date. They have opened for artists like the Dave Matthews Band, legendary bluesman Robert Cray, the Downchild Blues Band, Australian bassist Tal Wilkenfeld of Jeff Beck fame, the John Butler Trio, Jeff Healey, and others. It’s time to share the love with the LH Express.
