Frankie Maneiro also known as Frankie Boy opens “Young Man’s Blues” with a narrative and tribute to Luther “Guitar Junior” Johnson. The band was winner of the 2019 and 2022 Granite State Blues Society Blues Challenge. They also represented New Hampshire at the International Blues Challenge in both 2020 and 2023. The band who also served as “Guitar Junior” Johnson’s backing band are rounded out by Mickey Maguire, bass and vocals, and Harrison Foti, drums.
The songs include two written by Luther “Guitar Junior” Johnson, “Talkin’ About Soul”; and “Flippin’ and Floppin'”. “Going Fishing” with special guest Mike Morgan is from songwriter David Dee, “Engine Number Nine” from Wilson Pickett, “Black Drawers On” from Jean and James Cheatham, and the medley “Mary Had A Little Lamb/ you belong to me” from Buddy Guy and Magic Sam.
The band has also played alongside Joe Lewis Walker, Duke Robillard, Papa Chubby, Albert Castiglia, Ronnie Earl, Eliza Neal and the aforementioned Buddy Guy.
