Vizztone Lable Group
Sue Foley has become a perennial Blues Music Award winner having won The Blues Music Female Artist of The Year award, also known as the Koko Taylor Award in 2020, 2022, and 2023. This live recording is a career retrospective.
Although her most recent albums are “The Ice Queen” and “Pinky’s Blues” Foley recorded her first album “Young Girl Blues” in 1992. From that early album comes four songs, “Me & My Chauffeur”, “Queen Bee”, “Walkin’ Home” and “Hooked On Love”.
The first song released as a single is the title track to Foley’s 2006 album “New Used Car”. The secong song to be a single is Howlin’ Wolf’s “Howlin’ for My Darling” from 1995’s album “Big City Blues” as Foley channels Wolf’s guitarist Hubert Sumlin. From 1996 comes “Better” from the album “Walk in The Sunshine”. “Highwayside” first appeared on Foley’s 1998 recording “Ten Days in November”.
The Bob Dylan favorite “Positively 4th Street” is reprised from 2000’s “Back to The Blues” album. The rare “High Roller” comes from the 2013 compilation a “Dynamite Rock-A-Billy” collection.
This live recording on “Guitar Woman Records” is subtitled volume 1. Hopefully there will be more forthcoming from the prolific Sue Foley.
