Remi Goode (pronounced “Ray-mee”) is a trained classical guitarist and former member of the acclaimed Tucson Girls Chorus. She now resides in Nashville, TN. Remi was inspired by Suzanne Vega, Kathleen Edwards, and Sarah Harmer,  primarily because of the way they evolved from folk foundations, always pushing their art forward. This is Remi Goode’s debut recording.

The ensemble includes Remi, lead and backing vocals, nylon string acoustic  guitar, electric guitar, and keyboards; Gabe Lehrer, electric and acoustic guitar, keyboards, lead and backing vocals, and percussion; Cole McLeod, drums and percussion, Jake Leyba, electric and upright bass; Hayden Shaner, violin and mandolin, and sound effects; Travis Rowland, drums; Camille Bruya, bass;  Tristan Lauzon, bass; Vashawn Arora, keyboards; and Matt Goode, accordion.

Remi opens with “Don’t Drive Me Home”, as she sings, “hold my face, speak  into my eyes, but I can’t hear you, covered ears, but I don’t need to…we’re calling it off…feels like a break up, I don’t mind calling it love, with nothing to back it up”. On “Short Circuit”, Remi chimes “I’ve always got a nervous tic,  chewing on my fingertips, short circuit, wires are crossed, hardwired…I don’t  know what I’m talking about, just a liar”.

“Waltz No. 1” features Gabe Lehrer, as Remi chirps “this is a perfect moment,  a poem about the color green, before it becomes a song, I’ll put you in the  melody, my songbird, but that was before…remember when we sat across the table”. On “For The Record” Remi cries “wouldn’t it be nice to wash my hands  of you? wouldn’t it ?…for the record, I don’t think I could”.

“Punchline”, Remi chants “There is no punchline at the end of your joke, maybe you’re laughing because you know it’s so…it’s not an easy time, it never is, take yourself back from being his”. On “Return To Sender” Remi groans “I do love me a letter, I love getting it down, something about seeing all the words written out, make me feel better…if you knew me, that’s long over…Return to sender”.

“Posterity”, Remi moans “I should shut my mouth, I’ve got nothing to be mad  about, say what I want to hear and don’t stop, I feel like getting my hopes up”. On “Might Not Be True”, Remi bursts “last week, I wrote a poem, this week I  don’t feel like it anymore, Last week I changed with the wind, but today, I’ve decided to stay in”. On the closer, “Overseas”, Remi croons “it’s nothing about you but I’m leaving, I was finding it hard to stay, starting over is a young one’s game, but traveling away doesn’t mean you’ve gone far…maybe I should’ve spared you from missing me”.

“Things I’ve Said Before” documents a promising new singer/songwriter with a beautiful voice. Remi Goode is at the precipice of her artistic journey. If this debut is any indication of what the future holds for Remi Goode, the road  ahead is sure to be a long and fruitful one”.
