Making a Scene Presents Gerry Casey’s Interview with Santiago Periotti of Santiago and the Soulmovers
Santiago Periotti is an Argentine singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose playing brings blues grit, rock drive, and a warm, soulful edge—now focused in the London music scene. Known for his passion on stage and a sound that blends energy with feel, Santiago has built his career the old-school way: writing, touring, and earning audiences one room at a time.
He first gained a strong local following in Argentina with his original band, releasing three albums and performing widely across the country. In 2014, he joined the well-known band Mo’Blues, recording and touring throughout Latin America and sharpening his identity as a powerful live performer with deep roots in blues-based music.
After three years with Mo’Blues, Santiago launched his solo career and released two blues albums that helped open doors internationally. His music has taken him to stages in Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Mexico, Ecuador, and Brazil, expanding his audience and shaping a sound influenced by different cultures, rooms, and musical traditions.
In 2021, Santiago began developing a new chapter of his music with producer Wayne Proctor (AA Williams, Lynne Jackaman, Ben Poole) and co-writer Oli Brown. The result is a fresh body of work to be released under the name Santiago and the Soulmovers, blending blues rock muscle with soul flavors and a Nashville-inspired songwriting touch. It’s a sound that keeps the blues at its core but pushes into brighter melodies, deeper grooves, and a more modern, song-driven approach.
Today, Santiago and the Soulmovers features Santiago Periotti on vocals and guitar, Robin Thunders on bass, and Graziano Savarese on drums. Together, they deliver a tight, high-energy live show built on strong songs, big grooves, and the kind of stage presence that turns first-time listeners into regulars.
