Gene Bannon from Cootehill ireland he was the saxophone player in The Times Showband. They recorded an album in Abbey Road studios and used the same engineer as the Beatles. Gene also played in Dusty Springfield’s band in the late sixties. These days, Gene runs his own pub in Cootehill appropriately named Bannon’s. He also plays regularly with his own jazz band, usually in the pub, but also for local functions and gigs across the region.
