Ed Harris is an American musician and multi-instrumentalist who focuses on Celtic music, a passion he has maintained for over 30 years. He is classically trained and performs Celtic, Traditional, and Folk music. Ed has released numerous albums to date, and I am fortunate enough to be able to review this brand new one as well. To say that Mr. Harris is a talented musician would be a gross understatement. He is much more than that.

He was given his first guitar at age five and the number of instruments he has mastered makes him a true multi-instrumentalist. Guitar, fiddle, mandola, upright bass, mandolin, harmonica, and keyboards…You don’t need to know anything more to understand what I mean.

‘Echoes Through The Elderwoods ‘ is an Album with 14 songs , partly instrumental and partly sung with the unmistakable voice of this exceptional artist.

“The Pipe on the Hob” is a collection of folklore and musical traditions.The tune itself is a very old and popular Irish jig.Captivating and cheerful .

“It’s A Working Man I am”, a song in the original by Rita MacNeil This  became a tribute to the coal miners of Cape Breton, celebrating their hard work and resilience. Calm, contemplative, and one is practically transported back to bygone times.

“One More Pull”,  a shanty and a wonderful love song , romantic and a pleasure to listen to .

I highly recommend listening to all the excellent songs by Ed Harris. Old tunes in a new guise, never boring and always entertaining, no matter what mood you’re in. I would also like to mention that all income the artist earns from his releases goes to the St. Jude’s children hospital ,an absolute passion project for W. Ed Harris !
