Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Christopher Wyze
Formed as a studio project in 2022 by Indianapolis singer-songwriter Christopher Wyze and veteran producer/multi-instrumentalist Ralph Carter, Christopher Wyze & the Tellers made a remarkable entrance onto the global blues scene without playing a single live show. Their debut album Stuck in the Mud not only landed them a coveted spot in the Roots Music Report Top 40 Blues Albums of 2024, but also produced the RMR #1 single “Back to Clarksdale.”
Wyze, a lifelong performer and award-winning vocalist, had never written a full song lyric until Carter—whose credits include Eddie Money, Sugaray Rayford, NBC, and Showtime—challenged him to start. Four months after their first songwriting session in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the pair recorded the album in Muscle Shoals with top session players.
In October 2024, the band—now a full six-piece—made their live debut at the legendary Juke Joint Chapel in Clarksdale, capturing the performance for their LIVE in CLARKSDALE CD/DVD set. The release features eight originals from Stuck in the Mud plus two classic blues standards, along with a 50-minute documentary WYZE in CLARKSDALE exploring the Delta’s deep musical roots.
Distributed worldwide by Select-O-Hits on Big Radio Records, Christopher Wyze & the Tellers blend fresh songwriting with authentic blues heritage—proving that sometimes, the dream really does play out exactly as imagined.
