Blues Society of Central, Pa.
Blue Heart Records
The Blues Society of Central Pa. has been hosting a weekly Thursday night jam for more than twenty-years. The 2020 pandemic forced the cancellation of the weekly event. The society switched gears to broadcast the sessions on their facebook page and to keep the blues alive and available in an expanded market as proof of the dedication of the local blues community. The album is produced, mixed and mastered by Bobby Gentilo at Right Coast recording, in Columbus, Pa. The liner notes are from Executive Producer Rocky Rothrock.
The sixteen tracks include songs written by the participating bands. Two songs are from the Roger Hammer trio including “Walkin’ Round Blues” and “Love or Money”. Two are from the five-piece blues-rock band, Buzzard Luck; included are “Keyhole” and “True Force of Nature”. Another harp based band, the Nate Myers Trio, is fronted by Myers playing on both “Is That What You Want” and on the medley “Catfish Blues/It’s My Music”.
Keyboardist Tom Lowry appears in three ensembles. He plays with guitarist/vocalist Todd Klucker in The Mighty Klucks; and also joins the rhythm section of bassist David Harris, and drummer Gordy Keeney; in both Rocky & The House Band when led by Rothrock; and in Bob Wineland & The House Band, when led by Wineland.
Two more originals, “Outside Cat” and “The Blues Will Burn Ya”, are from Rose Hudson with Barrelhouse; while both the Bob Brandt Trio, and Blues On The Loose contribute one song each. The digital version also includes three bonus tracks from artists we are more familiar with, including Clarence Spady, Crooked Eye Tommy, and Miss Bix.
The variety of styles represented by our blues societies always keeps the music fresh. Special thanks to the BSCP.
