Fortuna
As the presenter of a radio show I often felt I’ve got the best job in the world. The volume of music I receive and the quality of it constantly surprises and amazes me. That was most definitely the case when I received Fortuna the new album by London based blues artist Bex Marshall. Fortuna is a genre fluid album with influences and styles from the Blues ,Rhythm n’Blues to Soul and straight out rock n ‘ roll The album opens with the powerful Preaching To The Choir , what an opening track and such a high standard to set for the album, but I needn’t have worried because next comes another future classic Dirty Water .
For me these two tracks would have been reason enough to buy this album but it didn’t stop there . In fact track after track is just of jaw dropping quality With tracks like I Can’t Look You In The Eye ,5AM, Jungle, and Fortuna the title track the listener is spoiled for choice.
One thing is for sure the quality of music being produced by independent artists is the highest it’s ever been. Fortuna is a prime example of just that. So get listening and you’ll agree this album is a career defining one for Bex Marshall, and simply the best album you’re likely to hear for a long time to come .
