Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Steven C Anderson
Steven C Anderson is a genre-bending pianist and composer whose music sits at the crossroads of classic rock inspiration, sweeping cinematic soundscapes, and intimate solo-piano artistry. With more than 2,000 original works and millions of streams worldwide, Steven has built a career defined by both prolific creativity and emotional honesty. His music moves effortlessly from raw, exposed piano pieces to richly orchestrated arrangements, always anchored in melody, mood, and storytelling.
One of his most beloved works, “Daybreak,” filmed at sunrise on the steps of Saint Paul Cathedral, has become a signature moment in his catalog—drawn to again and again by listeners around the world, now surpassing 20 million streams across platforms.
In Echoes of Ozzy: A Piano Reflection (August 21, 2025), Steven pays tribute to the power and mystique of Ozzy Osbourne’s music, transforming heavy-rock intensity into reflective, expressive piano landscapes. It’s a project that bridges eras and audiences, reimagining metal anthems with grace, depth, and daring. The album also features the masterful guitar work of David Feily, merging two worlds in a way only Steven could envision.
This fall marks a full-circle moment in Steven’s career. Thirty years after his first CD release concert in the same historic venue (formerly the Brown Ryan Building), he returns October 5 as part of the Aster House concert series. Now recognized as an artist who consistently ranks in the top 15% of global streaming performers (Chartmetric 2025), he will share the stage with Grammy-winning and Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame guitarist Pat Donohue, along with vocalists Jillian Anderson, Kat Budzien, and Jack Cassidy.
Steven’s career spans far beyond the stage. He has collaborated with the London Symphony Strings at Abbey Road Studios, appeared on NBC’s Today Show, and his music has been featured on Oprah, Amazon Prime Video, and across television, radio, and multimedia. Yet despite global achievements, he remains deeply rooted in his Minnesota musical community, committed to connection, creativity, and craft.
