Jonathan Karrant with The Joe Alterman Trio LIVE IN CONCERT
JONATHAN KARRANT with THE JOE ALTERMAN TRIO
LIVE IN CONCERT
Virtuoso Music
Jonathan Karrant, vocals; Joe Alterman, piano; Mike Gurrola, bass; Kevin Kanner, drums.
At its core, this “Live” album is about connection with the enthusiastic audience and between the awesome musicians. As I listen, I think to myself, Jonathan Karrant is very lucky to have that swinging trio, especially Joe Alterman on piano. Alterman is both an exceptional pianist and a competent accompanist. This ‘Live’ performance is accelerated by the talent of Alterman on piano.
Prior to this recording, Alterman has recorded on his own and with Houston Person on saxophone. He was a big fan and friend of the late, great Les McCann.
Jonathan Karrant is a male jazz singer who brings his own style and charisma to the stage and transmits the same to his latest “Live in Concert” album. Jonathan has recorded duets with artists like Diane Schuur and Jane Monheit. He has received honors throughout the United States including ‘The New York City Cabaret Jazz honor’ and the ‘Best Singer for the Bravo California Awards.’ He was named one of the top 10 rising jazz vocalists by Downbeat magazine.
Mr. Karrant knows how to swing! He is completely supported and inspired by the Joe Alterman Trio, who adequately provide the groove. They do justice to the old standard “The Great City.”
The familiar blues tune “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight” is another crowd-pleaser and has the audience shouting from their seats.
Across fourteen tracks of songs we know and love, vocalist Jonathan Karrant shines like a new star on the horizon.
