Making a Scene Presents Gerry Casey’s Interview with Robin Nutley of The Revenant
Formed in 2023, Revenant deliver a powerhouse rock sound infused with a southern edge. Their debut EP, What A Time To Be Alive, dropped in May 2024 to critical acclaim and quickly established the band as one to watch. Onstage, they’ve been turning heads across the UK festival and club circuit—including a standout performance at Firevolt—captured in their live album What A Time To Be Live. Backseat Mafia praised it as “one of the best guitar releases of the year,” while Powerplay Magazine called Revenant “one of the most refreshing and exciting sounds around.” With accolades like these, it’s no surprise that these southern UK rockers are fast becoming a new fan favorite.
The band’s high-octane sound comes from a potent mix of influences, spanning Guns N’ Roses, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Blackberry Smoke through to Metallica. That blend has fueled a string of bold releases, starting with their debut single Coming Back To Life, which drew strong streaming numbers and immediate attention. Its follow-up, The Masquerade, soared just as high—earning international airplay and comparisons to icons like Chris Cornell, Alter Bridge, and Black Stone Cherry. Their sophomore EP, Best Medicine, is out now and earning rave reviews. Classic Rock Magazine described it as “southern dirt, pensive twists and bright 70s flair,” Rock Radio UK declared, “This will put them firmly on the map,” and Overtone Magazine called it “one of my favourite EPs of the year! 9/10.”
At their core, Revenant are storytellers. To their growing fanbase, affectionately known as The Revenant Ones, the band delivers more than just rock anthems. Their music carries messages of hope, love, struggle, and resilience—the raw stories of real life, both good and bad. With more music on the horizon and a busy year of touring ahead, including a major festival appearance at Maid of Stone in 2025, Revenant are proving that this is only the beginning of their rise.
