Angela Strehli “Ace of Blues” is Strehli’s first album in 17 years co-produced by her and her husband Bob Brown. Many will remember her 1990 album “Dreams Come True” with Marcia Ball and Lou Ann Barton and as part 2009’s Blues Broads also featuring Tracy Nelson.
Strehli’s most requested song is “Howlin’ for My Darling, a cover of the classic Howlin Wolf song. Other songs by the 76 year old Strehli include Bobby “Blue” Blands, “Two Steps from the Blues”, Elmore James “Person to Person”, O.V. Wright’s title track “Ace of Spades” and Muddy Waters “I love the Life I Live”.
Also included are songs by Otis Rush; Chuck Berry; Otis Clay; Jimmy Reed; Little Milton; gospel singer Dorothy “Love” Coates and the original SRV, the latter a tribute to her friend and bandmate. Also included are some terrific photos
