Making a Scene Presents an Interview with the All Night Boogie Band
All Night Boogie Band is an award-winning blues, rock, and soul-inspired band from the Green Mountains of Vermont, built on big vocals, hard-driving grooves, gritty guitar work, and a deep affection for the sound and spirit of American roots music. Since forming in 2021, the band has developed a reputation as one of Vermont’s most energetic live acts, delivering original music with the power of a roadhouse blues band, the swing of a horn-fueled soul revue, and the urgency of rock and roll.
At its core, All Night Boogie Band is a quintet, occasionally expanding into an octet with horns. That flexibility gives the group a broad musical reach. They can dig into raw blues, stretch into soul and R&B, lean into rock and roll, and bring the full-room lift of a horn section when the song calls for something bigger. The result is a sound that feels rooted in tradition without being trapped by it. This is not museum-piece blues. It is living, breathing, sweaty, high-energy music made for stages, festivals, dance floors, and anyone who still believes a band should be able to move both the heart and the hips.
The band’s rise has been steady and well-earned. All Night Boogie Band won Best Blues Group in the 2025 Seven Daysies Awards and was named Vermont Rising Star at the 2023 New England Music Awards. They were also nominated for Blues Act of the Year at the 2025 New England Music Awards, further establishing their place within the broader New England roots and blues scene. Earlier in their career, the band was featured by Relix Magazine as an Artist on the Rise in July 2022, won Vermont’s 2023 Blues Challenge, and went on to become semifinalists at the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, in January 2023.
That recognition reflects what audiences have already been discovering in person: All Night Boogie Band brings serious musicianship, but they never lose sight of feel. Their music is full of vigor, personality, and movement, grounded in the resonance of great American music while pushing toward a voice of their own. The band’s performances have carried them across New England and New York, earning them a following among blues fans, roots music listeners, and live music audiences drawn to bands with real stage chemistry.
Their 2022 debut single, “A Woman Like I,” announced the band with confidence. Seven Days, Vermont’s weekly newspaper, described the track as a “six-minute-plus blast of blues and soul,” praising its authenticity, massive vocals, big horns, and tight rhythm section. It was an early signal that All Night Boogie Band had arrived with a sound bigger than their years together might suggest.
That same year, the band released its debut album, Taste These Blues. The record showed a young Burlington band deeply in love with the blues while also drawing from jazz and soul. It introduced the strengths that continue to define the group: expressive vocals, strong songwriting, sharp guitar work, and a rhythm section built for motion. The album gave listeners a band with both reverence and appetite, honoring the music’s roots while chasing its own spark.
In 2023, All Night Boogie Band followed with Angel of the Airwaves, a second LP that expanded their sound while keeping the blues at the center. The album moved with greater stylistic range, bringing in more pronounced elements of gospel, soul, jazz, and big-band swing while retaining the grit and drive of the band’s foundation. It showed that All Night Boogie Band was not content to repeat itself. They were growing, writing, arranging, and finding new ways to make the blues boogie.
Lead guitarist Brendan Casey and lead singer Jessica Leone have been central to the band’s original material, with Casey’s songwriting and Leone’s lyrical contributions helping shape songs that balance hardship, humor, resilience, and release. Leone’s voice gives the band much of its emotional force: powerful, soulful, and direct. Around her, the band builds a sound that can swing, stomp, testify, and burn.
All Night Boogie Band’s music is made for the live moment. Their songs carry the feel of a band that understands blues as both personal expression and communal celebration. There is struggle in the music, but also release. There is tradition, but also movement. There is craft, but never stiffness. Whether performing as a lean quintet or expanding with horns, the band plays with the kind of confidence that makes a room lean in and then get up.
With their third album, Shut Your Eyes and See, scheduled for release on July 3, 2026, All Night Boogie Band continues to build on a fast-moving and impressive early career. From Vermont clubs to regional festivals, from award recognition to the International Blues Challenge stage in Memphis, the band has proven itself as a powerful new voice in contemporary blues and roots music.
All Night Boogie Band stands for exactly what its name promises: music with stamina, soul, and a groove that refuses to quit. They are a Vermont band with a big American sound, carrying the blues forward with originality, force, and enough boogie to keep the night going.
