Making a Scene Presents An Interview with The Long Honeymoon
Minneapolis-based pop-rock band The Long Honeymoon has been filling venues and winning over audiences for more than three years with their high-energy live shows. Built around original songs packed with rich vocal harmonies, catchy pop grooves, and clever arrangements, the band delivers music that feels both familiar and fresh. Made up of musicians with more than two decades of experience in the Twin Cities music scene, The Long Honeymoon blends a deep love of classic pop-rock with a modern sound and a joyful spirit that connects with music fans of all ages.
The band began in 2022 when longtime scene veterans Lee Zukor (Lee Rude, Charlie Bucket) and Adam Marshall (The Humbugs, The Bazillions) reconnected after years of sharing stages in separate bands during the early 2000s. Writing together again, they quickly discovered an instant musical chemistry rooted in a shared love for artists like Elvis Costello, The Beautiful South, Stevie Wonder, and Teenage Fanclub. Energized by the songs they were creating, Lee and Adam brought in Kristin Marshall (also of The Humbugs and The Bazillions) to help shape and expand the material. From the start, the trio knew they had something special — they just needed the right band to bring it fully to life.
They found it.
Bassist Volney Hendrix (Lee Rude, Charlie Bucket) adds melodic flair and a distinctive voice to the rhythm section, while drummer Dennis Olson (RadioSpares) anchors the band with tight grooves and sharp pop instincts. Between them, Volney and Dennis bring years of experience from jazz, cover, hard rock, and pop bands, influences that subtly weave their way into The Long Honeymoon’s sound.
Rounding out the lineup are lead guitarist Mike Senkovich (Atomic Flea, The Humbugs, The Bazillions) and keyboardist/vocalist Eric Kreidler (Atomic Flea, Fever Pitch). Mike and Eric have been writing and performing original pop music together since the mid-1990s, and their long-standing partnership adds depth and polish to the band’s arrangements. Both are accomplished singers, songwriters, and arrangers whose love of power-pop, soul, jazz, and funk brings a level of sophistication rarely found in local pop-rock bands.
In October 2025, The Long Honeymoon released their debut album, The World Is Waiting, available online and in stores. The record captures the band’s upbeat energy, strong songwriting, and love of harmony-driven pop, marking an exciting new chapter for a group that feels both seasoned and freshly inspired.
