Making a Scene Presents an Interview with The Reverend Douglas
The Reverend Douglas (Douglas Patterson) is a Louisville, Kentucky-based blues artist known for his raw, soulful sound and deep-rooted authenticity. Blending traditional blues with personal storytelling, his music resonates with emotional depth and spiritual reflection.
In April 2022, The Rev Douglas released his debut album, Do You Have the Blues or Do the Blues Have You?, recorded live at RTR Recording in Louisville. The album features Douglas Patterson on vocals and guitar, Jeff Faith on stand-up bass, and Cary Shields on drums, with production by Steve “Catfish” Wilson and album art by Jeff Gaither. The nine-track collection offers a visceral journey through themes of struggle, redemption, and resilience, capturing the essence of the blues in its most authentic form.
Building on this foundation, The Rev Douglas announced his second album, Born to Walk Alone, released on January 11, 2025. This project is continues his exploration of the human condition through the lens of blues music.
Douglas Patterson’s approach to the blues is both spiritual and grounded. As he puts it, “Blues is spirit, not just a feeling… it’s in all of us.” His music invites listeners into a space of shared experience and emotional honesty.
