Making a Scene Presents Gerry Casey’s Interview with Claudia Cane
Claudia Cane has been a force in the music scene for almost 25 years. German audiences first got to know her as the voice behind several SAT.1 TV theme songs, including the tracks for Benzin im Blut with Sonja Kirchberger, 36 Stunden Angst, and Die rote Meile. Her distinctive, raspy voice stood out right away. After spending five years in London completing professional training in acting and musical theater, she returned to Germany and quickly became known nationwide.
In 2000, she released her first solo album, Come Closer!, produced by Curt Cress and Andrew Cane. The record featured the song “Free,” which she performed that same year in Germany’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, competing alongside artists like Stefan Raab.
Everything changed in 2001 when she joined AC/DC as a supporting act on their stadium tour. The legendary Australian rockers were so taken with her powerful stage presence that they invited her back for their 2003 club tour, as well as their massive Black Ice tour through Germany and Austria in 2009. Her strong connection to the band eventually inspired her 2012 album CC/DC – A True AC/DC Remake, where she reimagined her favorite Bon Scott–era AC/DC classics in her own style.
Richie Sambora is also a fan. In 2014, he personally selected her from hundreds of applicants to open his tour. Their duet, performed live each night, became one of the highlights of the shows.
Her most recent album, released in 2017, continued to showcase the power of her voice—a voice often compared to Melissa Etheridge, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, and even Bon Scott. In the years since, Claudia Cane has focused mainly on performing live, where she still captivates audiences from the very first note.
