Gatos Blancos is a jam band with soul and an evolving groove that is refreshingly unpredictable. Gatos Blancos brilliantly interpret the tone and resonance within each instrument. They play the sweet spots. Each song was unique, each had a good groove.
Stage lighting was purposely dark to create mood for the largely instrumental show. Even with the two songs that contained lyrics, they were added as part of the vibe of the song and not the usual focus. In talking with songwriter Pappy Biondo after the show, Pappy said he “enjoys stepping away from lyrically laden songs now and then. It frees him up to follow the creative groove”. Gatos Blancos followed that groove and took us all along for the ride.
Check out the “Gatos Blancos Live” tab on the bands website. “Sunset in Stone” is especially strong as it captures the beauty of Vermont and the joy that inspires.
If Gatos Blancos comes near your town, catch that ride. With three of the five members currently residing in Vermont and being familiar with each other from time spent making music while living in northeastern PA, the urge to jam was inevitable. Gatos Blancos consists of members of Cabinet (Pappy Biondo/Dylan Skursky) Ryan Montebleau Band (Justin Mazer) Brad Parsons Band/Starbird ( Al Smith) and Mike Gordon Band (John Kimock). These gatos can mesh the best of their musical worlds, backgrounds, influences and interests to produce inspiring sounds.
