This weekend I’m celebrating the blues . . . first because it is the amazing Eddie Tigner’s 9st birthday! Happy birthday. Eddie! And then because our friend Bobby Messano is coming to Darwin’s which always makes me happy! Other reasons to celebrate include the Decatur  BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival, The Ally Venable Band (fresh young talent!) and the many incredible musicians all around town. What a gift these artists the clubs and the music are to us! Go get your blues!

Friday

Northside Tavern celebrates Eddie Tigner’s 91st Birthday with Uncle Sugar & Special Guests. Bobby Messano entertains at Darwin’s and George Hughley and the Shadows are at Blind Willie’s. Atlanta Boogie is at Fat Matt’s and bnshkr & 2 Lane Jones are at MoonShadow Tavern .The Way Back Band plays at Buckeye Getaway and Cody Matlock comes to Good Ol’ Days in Cumming. The Hollidays are at Hobnob Tavern and Jessie Albright & Foster Blues opens for Dead Affect at Smith’s Olde Bar.The Donna Hopkins Band appears with Ink & Ash  at The Vista Room in Decatur and Stiff Kitty is at Will Henry’s in Stone Mountain.

Saturday

The Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival takes place at Harmony Park, Oakhurst and features The Georgia Flood, Beverly “Guitar” Watkins, Donna Hopkins Band with Farewell Angelina, Vista String Band, Greg Humphrey’s Electric Trio, Grizzly Goat, and the Porch Bottom Boys. The Ally Venable Band is at Darwin’s and Sandra Hall & The Shadows are at Blind Willie’s Willy Jackson is at Fat Matt’s Campbell Harrison, Mikhail Petersen, and Cody Bearden are at MoonShadow Tavern and Madrid Express is at Northside Tavern.

Sunday

Radio Days celebrate the End if Summer at Darwin’s and Stephen “Bluesdude” Duncan is at Fat Matt’s. Uncle Sugar is at Northside Tavern. There is a Gospel Brunch featuring Beverly “Guitar” Watkins and Harold Holloway & Company at Eddie’s Attic and David T & Friends, have a CD Release party at Smith’s Olde Bar.
