This week: Indie Blues in and around Atlanta August 28- September 3

As my regular readers know information gets very scarce at the start of a new month. I am sure there are more things going on for Labor Day weekend but I only have a couple of shows to share. At least they are good ones! And as for the rest of the week well, you might really enjoy the Tribute to B King at The Vista Room Tuesday as well as all the usual great shows and jams!


Mudcat is at Blind WIlllie’s and Dry White Toast are at Fat Matts’s. Mike Watason hosts the jam at Loco’s in Alpharetta and Lola is the host for the jam at Northside Tavern.


The Vista Room at Napoleon’s in Decatur hosts A Tribute to BB King, with the Breeze Kings, Fatback Deluxe, The Larry Griffith Band, and The BarryRichman Band. Poverty Level is at Darwins and Nandha Blues Band (from Italy) is at Blind WIllie’s. The Crosstown Allstars entertain at Fat Matt’s and Ross Pead & Friends are at Front Page News in Little 5 Points. Swami Gone Bananas is at Northside Tavern and there is an acoustic open mic with Bones at Nik’s Place in Marietta. There is also a blues jam hosted by Frankie’s Blues Mission at Montie’s Public House.


The Electromatics are at Blind Willie’s and Darwin’s has the blues jam with The Cazanovas.Frankie’s Blues Mission visist Fat Matt’s and Mudcat is at Northside Tavern. The Free Range Electric Cabbage Jam takes place at MoonShadow Tavern and Zaib Kahn hosts the open blues jam at Nikk’s Place. The Wednesday Blues & Brews with Garrett Collins happens at Hard Rock Café.


Sandra Hall and the Shadows are at Blind Willie’s and Cody Matlock & Friends are at Darwin’s. Chickenshack is at Fat Matt’s and Nathan Nelson is acoustic at Nik’s Place. The Breeze Kings are at Northside Tavern. Lady D has the Eastside Thursday Rocking Open Mic Jam at Vibes Nite Club in Decatur. There is an open jam with the Tom Hill Band from 4 to 8 pm at the Farmer’s Market on Main Street in Tucker. The Madrid Express continues keeping the spirit of Colonel Bruce alive at the Vista Room in Decatur.


The Josh Garrett Band isat Darwin’s and Little G Weevil and Memphis to the Bone play Madlife Stage and Studios in Woodstock. Beverly “Guitar” Watkins plays Stagga’ Lee’s Goodtime Emporium. Leonard Blush is at Moonshadow Tavern.


The Cody Matlock Band is at Darwin’s. The Nick Moss Band is at Blind Willie’s.


Swami Gone Bananas is at Darwin’s and Uncle Sugar is at Northside Tavern and Mike Farris is at Eddie’s Arric.
