Kight takes great pride in representing the U.S., and she was honored to be the recipient of the 2013 Georgia Music Legend Award.
Born and raised in rural Georgia, Kight still lives on the land that’s been in her family for four generations. Her roots go deep, and that comes through in her music, an americana/blues/country hybrid that encompasses elements of jazz, gospel and pop.
Considered a true vocalist, Kight has had six Blues Music Awards nominations and two Blues Blast nominations, with three for Song of the Year. Many artists have recorded her songs, and she’s had songs on two Grammy®-nominated albums, and on two blues compilations that maintained Billboard chart positions for over a year. Her songs have appeared on the Children’s Miracle Network, on Nick at Nite, and on ABC Family.
Her last four albums went to #1 on Sirius XM’s Bluesville. One also charted in the top 10 on Airplay Direct’s Top 50 Blues Albums, and one went to #1 on the Roots Blues Chart.
Kight has appeared on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion, and one song from her segment was re-broadcast on the Listener’s Choice Program three times.
Kight is grateful to be alive, and to continue making music. A near-death illness a few years back transformed her music into a more positive shade of blue. The songs she writes now seem to be coming from a deeper place, and they have a broader reach. Fans will find a new facet of her music on this album.
Performances vary, allowing Kight to tour as a solo, duo, or with a full band. When she’s not touring, Kight loves being out in the country with her pet goats, writing new songs, and taking more pictures to add to her photography portfolio….
